my beautiful birthing story with leonie is a tale that always warms my heart… i hold a deep respect and love for this woman. I was traveling with my partner, heading to south america and we were 7 months pregnant… after speaking with our friends (Sophie :)!) whom had given birth in peru with Leonie 4 years earlier we contacted her.. and from our first contact i felt a deep sense of comfort and trust in my being… Leonie was there for myself and my family on numerous different levels, midwife friend, counsellor, doctor, herbalist, support and list contiues… and through all these different interactions these feelings have remained strong with Leonie…
The birth of my daughter Lamaya was the most beautiful experinece of my life and i am forever grateful to have been held thorugh this experience by such a wise woman… My birth began early one morning and Leonie was called to the house soon after dawn… i spent the most part of the day in labour, in the garden, under a pristine blue sky, with the most beautiful backdrop of the andes, amongst the hummingbirds… Apart from Leonie and my partner, my parents were there who had flown in from australia, and beautiful Marlis. Leonie arrived and set up all her herbs and bits.. i was impressed at the professional yet cool manner she had from the momment she walked in the door… Leonie provided a beautiful anchor for me, a sweet, centered and light presence… her complete knowledge of herbs and natural medicines was an inspiration and comfort, knowing that myself and my babe would be looked after in the most holistic way… Lamaya was born at 315 that afternoon… We made a ceremony for Lamaya’s placenta, burried half under a sweet white cherry tree, Leonie used a quarter for medicine to help other birthing mothers and i ate the other quarter straight after the birth…
i felt completely confident with Leonie’s guidance and wisdom of birth.. she has installed in me a complete trust of woman, of midwife and of home birth.. and i totally support her throughout her work…. Leonie you have a lot of important and vital knowledge to share with the world… there is so much to learn from you… thank you thank you thank you…
